“Let Them Eat Cake” Rogers House Care Home Residents Celebrate Afternoon Tea Week

Residents of Rogers House Residential Care Home in Wigmore proved you can have your cake and eat it, as they enjoyed a special high tea in celebration of Afternoon Tea Week.

The outing was the icing on the cake for residents of the Drewery Drive Care Home, as they headed out to their local garden centre this week, to experience one of the nation’s favourite pastimes, afternoon tea.

The residents visited Dobbies, which is just a short drive from the home, where they were treated to towering stands filled with finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones, and a variety of sweet treats.

Afternoon Tea Week is running from the 8th – 14th August this year, it gives cake lovers the perfect excuse to catch up with loved ones over a cup of tea and some delicious delicacies.

Hannah Newman-Brown, Activity Coordinator at Rogers House said: “We sometimes have afternoon tea at Rogers House and the residents always really enjoy it, so Afternoon Tea Week seemed like perfect occasion to celebrate and go out somewhere nice.

“The residents had a lovely afternoon and are hoping they can go back soon!”
