Gravesend Extra Care Scheme Hosts Jubilee Party fit for a Queen
Residents and guests at Watling Court Extra Care Housing Scheme enjoyed a right royal knees up over the long weekend, as they relished a jubilant Jubilee celebration.
The bunting was hung and the flags were flying at the Ifield Way development for over 55s, where a spectacular street party took place on Thursday 2nd June, in honour of her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.
Partygoers were encouraged to dress in red, white and blue, and wear their paper crowns as they gathered in the dining room and garden for an afternoon tea celebration.
Residents and their guests toasted the third longest reigning Monarch in the world with a glass of fizz, as they tucked into a tasty spread, fit for a Queen. There were also plenty of fun and games on offer, including a competition to make the best crown.
Attendees could also learn a bit about the Queen’s history and that of the royal family, as staff had displayed a number of informative boards around the scheme, including lots of old photos.
Helen Goulding, Housing Officer at Watling Court said: “We had an excellent turn out for our Jubilee Street Party, lots of family and friends joined us too, which was wonderful.
“With the age group of our residents, there is a lot of patriotism for our Royal Family and many memories of previous celebrations and milestones, so it was fabulous to all be able to celebrate and make memories together.”
