It’ll be Homely This Christmas at Wigmore Care Home
For residents of Rogers House Residential Care Home in Wigmore, Christmas is a real celebration and something to be enjoyed together, as a family.
On Christmas Day at Rogers House, bottles line the dining room tables and gifts are handed out, crackers are pulled and turkey with all the trimmings is served up. The staff and residents of the home celebrate just like you and I do, complete with a post lunch nap and the Queen’s speech.
Whilst Christmas Day is the big celebration, residents enjoy the run up to the big day too, with activity staff ensuring there is tonnes of festive fun in the diary.
From crafting homemade decorations and sending cards to pen pals, to carol singing and mince pie afternoon teas. The weeks before Christmas truly are filled with festive fun and something for everyone to enjoy.
Jackie Miles, Home Manager of Rogers House said: “People may think that Christmas is different in a care home but really, it’s just the same as in their homes, we pop some bottles of fizz, put on the Christmas music and open presents together.
The staff work really hard to make the whole festive period special for the residents and everyone has great fun, we’re all ready for a rest come January!”
