Extra Care Residents Enjoy Festive Fun Together
As big fans of the festive season, the residents of Watling Court Extra Care Housing Scheme in Gravesend were delighted to be able to spend time enjoying some festive fun this year.
Every Christmas, the residents of the Ifield Way scheme fill their calendars with lots of Christmas activities, from crafting and cooking, to trips to the Panto and pub lunches, but last year, they missed out, as many of us did, due to the pandemic.
So, this year, with a little more freedom on the cards, the residents made sure they didn’t miss a thing and made the most of every moment. The holidays start at Watling Court with putting up the scheme’s many trees and decorations, in the weeks that followed, they made decorative centrepieces and tasty homemade yule logs.
The residents have also been enjoying their outings again, they took a trip to an outdoor light up trail and also headed out to a viewing of their local pantomime, oh yes they did!
And their annual Christmas Party was back on this year too, with residents’ favourite, Chris Till, providing live entertainment. The residents were able to relax, enjoy a drink or two and dance the night away.
Helen Goulding, Housing Officer at Watling Court said: “Extra care housing is all about community living, building friendships and socialising and for the past two years that has been largely taken from us.
“With that in mind, the residents were keen to make the most of this Christmas, to make up for lost time and enjoy some festive fun together. We absolutely love Christmas here at Watling Court and we really do go all out, everyone had such a great time and we are all looking forward to the next celebration or big event!”
