Barnes Lodge Care Home Residents Make Christmas Cookies
There’s nothing like a spot of festive baking to get you in the Christmas spirit, so residents of Barnes Lodge Care Home in Tonbridge have been doing just that.
The smell of Christmas spices filled the air at the Tudeley Lane care home this week, as the keen bakers amongst the residents got together to enjoy a morning of seasonal baking.
Gingerbread biscuits were on the menu, as the residents rolled and cut out their dough and discussed their memories of cooking at Christmas during their younger days. Once they had cooked and cooled, the residents enjoyed tucking into their spiced biscuits with a nice hot cup of tea.
Nicky Pett, General Manager of Barnes Lodge said: “Our residents love to bake, as many of them remember cooking for their families during their younger days.
“As well as being therapeutic, the smells and tastes of baking can be very nostalgic and bring back a lot of memories for them, they all had a lovely time sharing their stories and making the biscuits, as well as sampling them of course!”
