Barnes Lodge Care Home’s Sweet Shop Stimulates Memories of Past
Residents of Barnes Lodge Care Home in Tonbridge enjoyed a nostalgic sweet treat at the weekend; when staff invited them to sample some pick n mix of the past.
No sweet tooth was left unsatisfied this week at the Tudeley Lane care home, as residents took a trip down memory lane when they were treated to some tasty traditional confectionaries.
From Blackjacks and Bounties to sherbet and sugar mice, there was something for everyone, as staff took the retro trolley for a walk around the home. They made sure to visit each of the residents, filling their candy-striped bag with old-fashioned favourites, as they expressed their joy at the reminiscent treat.
Nicky Pett, General Manager of Barnes Lodge said: “The sweet trolley is a real favourite with the residents here at Barnes Lodge, as it’s so nostalgic and takes them back to their younger days when they would visit their local sweet shop themselves. The trolley encourages reminiscence too, which is of course beneficial for the residents.
“Staff always take the trolley around the home so no one misses out, their faces really light up when they see the trolley full of treats coming, it’s lovely to see.”
