Rogers House Residents Reunited with Volunteers

After over a year and a half apart, residents of Rogers House Residential Care Home in Wigmore were overjoyed to welcome their network of volunteers back to the home.

With visitors unable to visit the home throughout the Covid-19 restrictions, sadly volunteers couldn’t either, so residents of the Drewery Drive care home were delighted last week to welcome them back last week, for a morning of fun activities.

Many of the home’s volunteers have been visiting for several years and have developed strong friendships with the residents, so they were very much missed over the past 18 months.

But last week, with everyone double vaccinated and restrictions eased, the group of committed volunteers made their first visit back to the home for a morning of crafts.

Jackie Miles, Home Manager of Rogers House said: “It was so lovely to have the volunteers back in, there was a real buzz about the place and excitement in the air, as everyone was catching up and nattering away.

“Many of our volunteers have been friends of the home for years so we have really missed them coming in, we’re all looking forward to getting back to some routine with their visits in the coming weeks.”
