Gravesend Care Home Residents Relish Reminiscence in the sun

Making the most of the lovely warm weather, residents of Edward Moore House Residential Care Home took their reminiscence activity outside this week.

With such lovely gardens to enjoy, the residents of the Trinity Road care home decided to head outside with their morning activity and enjoy some nostalgic chit chat in the sunshine.

Overjoyed to see the back of the rain and chilly weather, the residents enjoyed a spot of reminiscence, reflecting on their younger days and family memories. Using books and various props, which evoked a lot of nostalgia, the group were able to recall memories, prompted by the items and share stories with one another.

Christine Hutchinson, General Manager of Edward Moore House said: “The residents regularly enjoy reminiscence discussions here at Edward Moore and it’s always an interesting activity.

“Sharing life stories and experiences can trigger happy memories for the residents. It is incredibly beneficial for older people, particularly those living with dementia as it can stimulate mental activity and generally improve wellbeing.”
