Care Homes Celebrate Organisation’s 54th Birthday

Rapport Housing & Care’s (RHC) residential care homes across the county hosted their own celebrations, to mark 54 years of providing care, compassion and companionship to older people of the county.

Residents at the organisation’s residential care homes got together to make decorations and banners, in preparation for their birthday celebration of the milestone achievement.

In Gravesend, Northfleet and Wigmore, staff put on delicious buffet teas and ensured the drinks were flowing, as the residents got together to celebrate the special occasion. Getting into the party spirit, residents enjoyed a tipple or two and made a toast to the charity, which has grown a great deal over the past five decades.

Rapport Housing & Care was founded in 1967, (back then part of Abbeyfield), opening its first small supported home in Kingswood Road, Gillingham, when Rev Tom Rogers noticed that older people in the area were lonely and in need of care.

From that first small house in Kingswood Road, the organisation continued to grow and expand its portfolio and in 2018 decided to move forward as an independent organisation. Today, RHC is one of the leading housing and care providers for older people in the south east.
