Mum’s the Word at Rogers House
Staff at Rogers House Residential Care Home in Wigmore honoured the ladies of the home and celebrated Mothers’ Day with a fun filled day on Sunday.
Unable to join their families for a celebration, staff of the Drewery Drive care home made sure the mums of the home could still enjoy a spot of pampering on Mothers’ Day.
Their celebration began with a special lunch; tables were set in spring colours and adorned with lovely yellow flowers, as the residents enjoyed a restaurant experience and a special lunch. Choosing from salmon with dill sauce or chicken in Parma ham, both served with potatoes and vegetables, the residents tucked into a tasty two-course lunch, with ended with a suitably spring pudding of strawberry trifle with cream.
Later that afternoon the ladies got together upstairs in the activity room for a celebratory afternoon tea and a natter. With the finest china set out, the ladies were invited to sample some delicious homemade pink cupcakes alongside a cuppa, of course, as they chatted about their families and what being a mum means to them.
Jackie Miles, General Manager of Rogers House said: “Whilst we have taken our first steps to welcoming visitors safely back into the home, we are not yet able to have families in to join us for celebrations. With that in mind, staff wanted to ensure Mothers’ Day was even more special than usual for the ladies here, as they couldn’t be with their families. “
