Rogers House Residents Ring in Chinese New Year
Residents of Rogers House Residential Care Home in Wigmore wished each other Gong Hei Fat Choy on Friday 12th February, when they celebrated the Chinese New Year together.
Marking the most important day in the Chinese calendar and welcoming the Year of the Ox, residents of the Drewery Drive care home spent a frosty morning embracing some Chinese themed crafting, including some therapeutic colouring.
The home’s catering team also prepared a delicious tasting banquet for the residents’ lunch, including plenty of tasty Chinese delicacies. The hungry residents enjoyed tucking into a number of dishes from chicken in black bean sauce and special fried rice to appetising sides, including spring rolls and prawn crackers. Some opted to take their tantalising ‘takeaway’ with a beer on the side, they were celebrating after all.
Jackie Miles, Home Manager of Rogers House said: “Our residents always show an interest in learning about other cultures and celebrations, so we thought it was a great idea to host a celebratory day of activities for Chinese New Year.
“The residents really enjoyed learning about what the holiday means and the traditions it carries, of course the delicious lunch went down well too, they didn’t miss their Friday fish and chips at all.”
