Northfleet Care Home Residents Receive Presence in the Post

With Christmas proving different for us all this year, Rapport Housing & Care’s care homes across the county appealed to the community to send in some Christmas cards to their residents.

With the usual visiting entertainers and parties off the cards, staff have attempted to bring some festive cheer to their residents during this difficult time, by asking their communities to pop an extra Christmas card in the post this year.

Presence in the Post invites local people to spread a bit of Christmas joy and send a Christmas card to the residents in our care homes, telling them about their favourite Christmas traditions, fondest memories, or simply just to wish them a Merry Christmas.

Residents at Dene Holm received their first cards this week, the delivery bringing a smile to their faces as they read the messages and well wishes from their community.

Lea-Ann Shaw, Activity Coordinator at Dene Holm said: “Despite the ongoing pandemic, there is a still a lot of joy in our homes, we have plenty of fun activities taking place over the festive period, including baking, crafts and plenty more.

“What we unfortunately can’t do, is have lots of visitors in the home, so we thought it’d be nice to invite our communities to be present in a different way and spread some festive cheer in the form of a Christmas card. Not many people send them anymore but our residents love to look at the pictures on the front and read the messages, it’s lovely to know people are thinking of us during this time.”
