Gravesend Care Home Residents Craft Retro Decorations
Residents of Edward Moore House Residential Care Home in Gravesend got into the festive spirit and made some handmade classic Christmas decorations this week.
Keen to transform their home into a winter wonderland, residents of the Trinity Road care home tried their hand at some festive crafting this week, making paper chains to bring some festive joy, alongside the many other decorations and trees.
First seen in the UK in the 1850s, paper chains were first used on Christmas trees and were one of the many traditions to come to England from Germany, during Victorian times. With them being so easy to put together and a great craft project for those of all ages, plenty of us still enjoy making them and decorating with them today.
Chris Hutchinson, Home Manager of Edward Moore House said: “Christmas is just around the corner and we’re not letting the fact that things are a bit different this year dampen our spirits.
“There are still lots of fun activities going on and we’re making the most of the things we can do like making decorations, crafting and baking. Our team are determined to make it extra special for the residents, regardless of the current situation.”
