Paddock Wood Residents in the Mood for Glenn Miller Evening
With the cold evenings drawing in, residents of Margaret Fisher House in Paddock Wood enjoyed a cosy night in together listening to their favourite music.
In a bid to lift the spirits of her residents with a second lockdown looming, Carmel, the Housekeeper of the Old Kent Road supported home, hosted a Glenn Miller party on Friday evening.
The lounge was decorated with balloons and a buffet tea full of sandwiches, cakes and other treats was laid on. The food was kindly donated by the local Waitrose store, which provided support to the home throughout lockdown and prepared by Carmel herself.
The residents got together in the lounge, put their feet up with a glass of wine and enjoyed getting stuck into the DVD all about their favourite jazz artist from the 1940s. They learned about his life and listened to all the classic hits, everyone had a great evening reminiscing together and singing along to the songs of their youth.
Carmel Belshaw, Housekeeper at Margaret Fisher House commented: “This year has been tough on us all and with another lockdown just around the corner, it doesn’t look like it’s going to get any easier just yet.
“With all that in mind, I wanted to do something nice for the residents, so they could have an enjoyable evening together with no worries. We all had a lovely evening with lots of laughs!”
