Northfleet Residents’ Poppy Project Brightens up Home
Residents of Dene Holm Residential Care Home in Northfleet spent a morning getting crafty and painting poppies for a Remembrance Day window display.
With no public act of remembrance taking place this year due to the ongoing pandemic, people are being encouraged to put poppies in their windows, to show their appreciation and respect for the members of the armed forces who died in the line of duty.
So, residents of the Dene Holm Road residential care home spent a chilly morning getting stuck into a creative project, to create some artwork for a beautiful poppy window display.
They got together to paint or colour their poppies, whilst some chose to use tissue paper. Once complete, they displayed them in the windows, together with quotes.
Chris Hutchinson, Home Manager of Dene Holm said: “As has been the case with all of the other events this year, Remembrance Day looks a bit different for us all.
“So we decided to join the rest of the community in brightening up our windows with some lovely painted poppies, to show our respect for those who gave their lives for us and we plan to hold our two minutes silence as we always do.”
