Tonbridge Residents Get Taster Treats
Barnes Lodge Care Home in Tudeley Lane, Tonbridge, had a lovely treat from the chefs at Caterplus, who decided to surprise the residents with a taster morning and tea and cakes.
Whilst making the most of the last of the summer sunshine, Barnes Lodge residents sat outside, ready to take on the task of identifying some rather exotic foods. Presented with items such as juniper berries, carambola, also known as star fruit, fennel, passion fruit, ginger and dragon fruit, they used all their senses to try and detect what they all were. Some residents were even brave enough to try them!
After all their hard work, it was only fair to treat them to some delicious cakes, made by the chefs, and all washed down with a cup of tea. The residents had a lot of laughs trying to guess what it was, with the staff joining in as well.
Kay Hawkins, Social Activities Facilitator at Barnes Lodge said: “It is always so much fun to do something different, we are always busy planning activities for our residents and this one was really unusual, even I enjoyed joining in trying to guess what things were!”
Nicky Pett, General Manager at Barnes Lodge added: “Activities have always been so important to us here at Barnes Lodge, it was brilliant that the chefs at Caterplus came up with this idea. It is really essential that we keep our activities varied, we just want to see everyone smiling and having fun.”
