Residents go Bananas for Fresh Fruit Kebabs
It’s a berry fruity Monday at Dene Holm Residential Care Home in Northfleet, as residents are spending a pear-fect morning making fresh fruit kebabs to beat the heat.
Residents of the Northfleet care home had their pick of the bunch today, when staff invited them to try their hand at making their own refreshing seasonal snacks, perfect for keeping cool during the current heatwave.
Holding on to the final few weeks of summer, the hungry group enjoyed threading their kebabs with their most favourite fruits and a few marshmallows for good measure, of course.
Bananas, melon, marshmallows and berries were just a few of the sweet treats on offer as residents made their own winning combinations for a tasty mid-morning treat.
Christine Hutchinson, General Manager of Dene Holm said: “A lot of our residents really enjoy helping out with the running of the home and getting involved with daily chores, such as sweeping the floors or setting the tables. Even if staff tell them to relax and put their feet up, some really do want to help!
“Assisting with small tasks not only keeps them active and their mind busy, it also helps them with their daily routine and gives them a sense of purpose, so they had great fun helping to make their morning snack.”
