Hold Your Horses, it’s Ascot Day at Gravesend Care Home

Residents of Edward Moore House Residential Care Home spent a day horsing around, when staff hosted an Ascot themed activity-filled day this week.

With entertainers still unable to visit, staff at the Trinity Road residential care home decided to bring the celebrated racecourse to the residents, hosting an Ascot activity day.

Residents and staff donned their finest headwear for the special occasion and were served a very special lunch, including sandwiches, fresh cream cakes and strawberries. Getting into the spirit of the races, many also enjoyed a celebratory glass of fizz.

In addition, revelers enjoyed an Ascot-themed quiz, whilst learning all about the history and facts of the legendary racecourse.

Christine Boswell, Activity Coordinator at Edward Moore House said: “We are always creative with our activities but particularly in lockdown, as we haven’t been able to have entertainers come and visit residents, so we thought we’d bring Ascot to them!

“It was great fun, and everyone got into the spirit of the theme, wearing their finest, or most silly hats. We’re already working on the next themed day!”
