Rogers House Residents Dance the Night Away

If ever a disco dancing Friday night was needed, it is right now. As we ease out of lockdown, our Wigmore residential care home residents were delighted to welcome some musicians to the garden for a disco.

With visitors unable to visit for nearly four months, residents of the Drewery Drive residential care home were thrilled to be able to invite some entertainers to the home, local musicians, The Lark Birds.

Setting up their equipment and performing outside of the dining room doors, staff and residents cleared the tables and made a dance floor, so partygoers could make the most of the live music.

Dancing the evening away to all the nostalgic numbers, everyone had a great evening forgetting the worries of the past few months. They’d worked up quite an appetite, so a buffet tea was served, to keep everyone’s energy up for more dancing.

Jackie Miles, Home Manager at Rogers House said: “It’s been so long since we’ve been able to do something like this but with lockdown easing, we thought it’d be lovely to hold a disco with live music for the residents, whilst still keeping everyone safe.

“The residents had great fun, we’ve always carried on with a ‘business as usual’ attitude throughout the pandemic as much as we could anyway, to keep normality for the residents, but it was still so positive to be able to do some of the things we used to love doing!”
