School Children Surprise Tonbridge Care Home Residents with Letters

Barnes Lodge Care Home in Tudeley Lane, Tonbridge have received letters from the children at Bishop Chavasse Primary School.

For almost two years, Barnes Lodge residents and the children at Bishop Chavasse have come together every two weeks to do activities and have a lovely catch up. From creating Chinese lanterns to celebrate the new year, to planting flowers in wellie boots in the garden, the children and residents have always have a brilliant time together.

With the current situation, this of course cannot take place, so the school had the wonderful idea of writing to Barnes Lodge residents to let them know all the things they have been up to during lockdown. It is safe to say the residents and staff were absolutely delighted to hear from their young friends.

Nicky Pett, Home Manager at Barnes Lodge commented: “We always notice such a difference in our residents when the children come and visit, we have really missed seeing them. Getting these letters was so lovely for not just our residents but the staff as well. Thank you so much to Bishop Chavasse, it really made our day!”
