Northfleet Residents Create Quirky Collage

Bringing a bit of creativity to their day, residents of Dene Holm Residential Care Home in Northfleet, spent a morning making a newspaper collage.

Based on the theme of weaving worlds, the collage project invited the resourceful residents to explore the world around them. The project saw them cutting and sticking newspaper clippings that you wouldn’t usually see together, such as fast food and giraffes. The end result was a bright and eye-catching collage, depicting many news stories and features from right across the world.

With a storm raging outside, the residents thoroughly enjoyed being inside with a cuppa and their craft project, which prompted a lot of discussion amongst the group, from the variety of clippings and the story each piece was telling.

Chris Hutchinson, General Manager at Dene Holm said: “With lots of our usual activities off the cards for now, our activity team are being more creative with the activities for residents.

“The collage activity is great for learning general news and also embracing creativity and imagination, we found the clippings generated a lot of conversation and story swapping.”
