Tonbridge Care Home Residents Walking on Sunshine
Whilst the country went into lockdown, those living in care homes noticed a dramatic change to their lives too. The staff at Barnes Lodge Care Home in Tudeley Lane, Tonbridge took advantage of the weather and made sure residents enjoyed all the benefits that comes from a simple sunshine stroll.
No longer able to hug their loved ones or sit and have a cup of tea with them, staff at Barnes Lodge care home in Tonbridge are determined to keep their spirits up.
It is the simple things in life! That attitude is no different at Barnes Lodge amongst the staff and residents, who took great joy in going for a local walk together. Whilst the residents have been enjoying the beautiful garden at the home, it was a wonderful idea to have a change of scenery and take a relaxing stroll around the neighborhood.
With blankets, drinks and snacks packed, staff and residents set off to enjoy exploring the local surroundings and taking in the fresh air and glorious sunshine. With summer coming early, the residents really enjoyed the walk and having a good old-fashioned chat on the way around.
Nicky Pett, Home Manager at Barnes Lodge commented: “It is a difficult time for everyone at the moment, but it is really important to us that we carry on as normal and enjoy each day. With the sun shining it felt so lovely to get out and about and all the staff just love seeing the residents happy and smiling.”
