Gravesend Residents Welcome Chinese New Year

Residents of Watling Court Extra Care Housing Scheme in Gravesend welcomed the Chinese New Year with a celebratory banquet over the weekend.

Marking the beginning of the year of the golden rat, the hungry residents gathered in the dining room to tuck into a traditional and tasty Chinese feast for lunch.

Observing the spring festival, the catering team invited residents to sample an array of local delicacies from sweet and sour chicken and spare ribs to chow mein and prawn crackers, polished off with some fortune cookies, of course!

Helen Goulding, Housing Officer at Watling Court said: “Our residents love their food and the celebration also provided a welcome opportunity to get together and socialise. Everyone really enjoyed the meal, for some it was the chance to try something new too, which was very exciting.”
