Barnes Lodge Rings in Year of the Golden rat
Residents of Barnes Lodge Care Home in Tonbridge welcomed the Chinese New Year with a celebratory feast and the chance to try something new.
The dining rooms at the Tudeley Lane care home were transformed into The Red Dragon Chinese Restaurant this weekend, as the residents got together to welcome the year of the rat.
Decorated with their handmade Chinese lanterns, prepared earlier in the week, and an abundance of themed decorations, the hungry residents gathered at the restaurant excited to sample a lunchtime banquet of delicious and traditional Chinese food.
They tucked into an array of delicacies, including prawn toast, prawn crackers, sweet and sour pork and Chinese curry, all dishes were served alongside plain and egg fried rice. The residents ended their meal with a sweet treat of mango pudding and fresh fruit, delicious.
Nicky Pett, General Manager of Barnes Lodge said: “Everyone really enjoyed the Chinese New Year celebrations, whilst the delicacies weren’t all to everyone’s taste, they all relished the experience of trying the variety of food on offer and learning a bit more about the New Year traditions. Some of them had never tried Chinese food before so it was great fun!”
