Gravesend Residents Sing in the New Year
Ringing in the New Year with a bit of noise, residents of Edward Moore House Residential Care Home got stuck into their weekly music session.
The Trinity Road residential care home was certainly alive with the sound of music this week, when residents spent a morning enjoying their weekly music activity.
Armed with plenty of instruments and their very best singing voices, the group of creative crooners embraced their imagination and set about making some music together.
Christine Hutchinson, Home Manager of Edward Moore House said: “Our regular music activity is always a really sociable one, everyone gets together and really enjoys one another’s company.
“Later life should be a time of creativity and discovery, and music is just one way we can ensure that our residents are offered this opportunity.”
Research has proven that care homes with regular music programmes are happier places to be. Musical activity can improve residents’ wellbeing and quality of life, as well as acting as a method of communication, when speech is lost through dementia.
