New Year, New me? Canterbury Residents Relish January Workout
It might be a new year and the start of a new exercise regime for many, but for Connors House residents, they’ll be continuing their weekly workouts.
After some festive indulgence, many of us are looking to move a bit more in January and that too is the case for residents at Connors House Residential Care Home.
Residents of the Craddock Road home enjoy weekly workouts with Stella, using a variety of tools from inflatable balls and resistance bands to pom poms and parachutes.
Gentle exercise is incredibly beneficial for older people, not only can it reduce anxiety, depression and loneliness, it can also help to improve cardiovascular health, cognitive function and prevent falls, which are a significant risk when older people lose flexibility, strength and coordination.
Christine Devlin, Home Manager of Connors House said: “It’s always a brilliant sociable atmosphere when the residents do their exercise class with Stella, everyone gets together and has great fun.”
