Care Home Residents Join Nursery for Festive Fun

Keen to get to know their new friends better, children of Northfleet Nursery School invited residents of Dene Holm Residential Care Home to join them at their Christmas Party.

Christmas spirit was in the air last week, when residents of the Dene Holm Road care home made the trip to visit their new younger friends for some festive fun at their nursery in Northfleet.

The residents joined their friends for a Christmas party, where they had plenty of festive fun including seasonal singing and storytelling.

Just a couple of weeks ago, the children joined residents at the care home for the start of a new intergenerational project. The new initiative will see children visit residents bi-weekly, to engage in activities and learn together. Likewise, the residents will sometimes visit.

Christine Hutchinson, Home Manager of Dene Holm commented: “We were delighted to start to build a relationship with the local nursery school, as it is something that has been in the pipeline for quite some time now. There are so many benefits to mixing the generations together so we can’t wait to watch it grow and see their friendships develop!”
