Why volunteer with us?

Volunteering with Rapport Housing & Care is a fun and rewarding way to make a direct difference to the lives of older people. Our volunteers are key to the day-to-day running of our homes, getting involved in a number of ways. Whether they are helping out in the garden, hosting a weekly Bingo class or knitting products to sell within the home, every volunteer helps a great deal in improving the lives of our residents.

It gives you a unique opportunity to;

We operate numerous homes across the county so the support we receive from our volunteers is imperative.

As an organisation, we are dedicated to supporting our network of volunteers and incorporate them into our teams and the Rapport family. You will work closely with an employee of the organisation, meeting regularly to ensure you are getting what you want from your experience.

You may have just retired and have some free time, or perhaps you’re struggling to find work and want to develop new skills or maybe you just really want to make a difference. Whatever your reasons, we want to hear from you. 

What can I help with?

There are a number of ways you can get involved, you could;

Become a Trustee/Board Member

Join a support group which involves supporting the home and residents

Get involved with the residents, e.g. accompanying them to appointments, taking them shopping or simply reading them their daily newspaper

Assist with the planning of social events and activities

Help around the home and with the gardening

Media, fundraising and event support at the homes

What do I need to know?

It is compulsory for anyone working with vulnerable people to apply for a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service).

The application and approval process can take up to six weeks and must be completed before you can work in our homes, as a volunteer for the Society you will not incur any charges for the DBS.

Rapport Housing & Care will also repay any out of pocket expenses such as travel costs, telephone calls and the like.
